Pick the wrong exam and you can lose months. H&H Academy runs four adult pathways — PTE Academic, IELTS, OET, and General English — from Hornsby and online across Australia. Each program ties to a specific outcome: a visa points threshold, a faculty entry condition, AHPRA registration, or workplace confidence. Consultation matches the program to the letter in your offer or invitation, not to whatever test your cousin passed.
Program comparison
| Program | Who it suits | Typical length | Delivery | Detail |

Lengths are indicative. Diagnostics and your weekly availability set the actual plan. Intensive blocks are offered when a test date is inside eight weeks — capacity permitting.
PTE Academic
Computer-only format. Speaking into a headset, integrated tasks, fast results — suits many skilled visa schedules.
PTE program →IELTS
Academic or General Training. Live speaking interview. Accepted widely by universities and the Department of Home Affairs.
IELTS program →OET
Profession-specific healthcare English for AHPRA pathways. Role-plays and clinical writing contexts.
OET program →General English
No single exam score — builds meetings, emails, interviews, and community confidence for life already in Australia.
General English →
PTE, IELTS, or OET — what actually changes
PTE punishes hesitation and mumbling into the microphone. Templates help essays, but oral fluency and pronunciation are machine-scored with little patience for long pauses. IELTS rewards coherent writing and a calm speaking interview; Task 2 must answer every part of the prompt, and listening answers must be spelled correctly. OET is not a generic English test — a pharmacist and a nurse face different writing prompts and patient scenarios.
General English skips the single high-stakes number. You might practise explaining a roster change to a manager, chairing a short team huddle, or writing a complaint that gets a reply. Many learners pair it with exam prep — fluency work alongside IELTS writing, for instance.
Repeat sitters: bring your score report. We check whether the same test still makes sense or whether your strengths fit another format better.
What enrolment includes
- Diagnostic at intake — listening, reading, writing, speaking sampled under exam-like conditions.
- Weekly lesson plans sequenced from format introduction to full simulation.
- H&H Practice Portal access with dated homework reviewed in class.
- Marked speaking and writing with rubric references and actionable comments.
- Timed mocks at milestones, with written debrief and revised study priorities.
Intensive and part-time tracks
Intensive suits a test inside four to eight weeks, a large points gap, or an immovable visa deadline. Expect more live hours, daily portal tasks, and rapid mock turnaround. It only works if you protect the time — night shifts stacked with three hours of homework collapse quickly.
Part-time fits full-time workers and parents. Evenings and weekends, homework sized to real calendars. Progress is slower by the clock but steadier in habit — sensible when your sitting is ten to fourteen weeks out, or when you need foundations before a final intensive fortnight.
We recommend the track from diagnostics, not mood. A repeat candidate who only needs IELTS writing might take a three-week intensive on Task 2 alone, not a full syllabus again. Tell us if your roster changes — pace can be adjusted when we hear early.

Who each track serves
First-time sitters need format literacy before intensity — what the timer does, how sections connect, what “partial credit” means in listening. Repeat candidates need surgery on weak item types, not another lap of everything. International students often juggle an admission band with academic English for seminars; we separate those goals. Healthcare workers should confirm OET profession and version with their registration advisor before enrolling.
In-person classes run from our Hornsby learning centre. Online learners get the same plans and portal — video sessions with shared documents. Evening and weekend slots exist for employed sitters where timetables allow.
The right course is the one named in your university offer, employer letter, or visa paperwork — aligned to your deadline and the sub-score costing you points.
