What happens in a consultation
A consultation is a structured conversation — typically 30 to 45 minutes — focused on your circumstances rather than a generic course brochure. We review why you need English certification or improved communication skills, which test or program aligns with that purpose, and how much preparation time is realistic given your current level and weekly availability.
Where appropriate, we discuss diagnostic options to establish baseline performance across speaking, writing, listening, and reading. For PTE and IELTS candidates, this may involve reviewing a recent official score report or completing a sample task. For OET candidates, we confirm your profession and the communication scenarios most relevant to your registration pathway. For General English learners, we explore workplace or community contexts you wish to master.
By the end of the consultation you should understand the recommended program length, delivery mode, approximate fee range, and immediate next steps if you choose to proceed.
Consultation formats
Online — Conducted by video call with a calendar invitation once confirmed. Suitable for learners who prefer remote discussion.
In person — Held at our Hornsby learning centre. Allows informal review of printed materials and a brief tour of classroom facilities where scheduling permits.
Who should attend — Prospective learners may attend alone or with a supporting family member or agent. Disclose if an education agent represents you so we can coordinate communication appropriately.
Preparing for your appointment
Bring or have accessible any recent English test results, correspondence from your university or registration body stating required scores, and a rough outline of your weekly availability for classes and self-study. If your goal is tied to a visa application, note the relevant subclass and any Department of Home Affairs English requirement you are working toward. H&H Academy does not provide immigration advice, but understanding your context helps us recommend the correct exam pathway.
Consultation slots are confirmed by email or phone once scheduling staff verify availability. If you need to reschedule, provide at least 24 hours notice where possible so the appointment can be offered to another learner. Repeated no-shows may affect future booking priority.
